Wow what a week. Steph PR-ed and Lauren qualified for the 5K final running only 10 miles a week since January. There were C's for courage and Picky Sweatbands everywhere. At the end of it all, we celebrated... vigorously.

We want to sincerely thank SportHill, Eugene Running Company, Team Run Eugene, Ninkasi, Oiselle, and especially all the fans and cheers that made this 2012 US Olympic Trials such a freaking awesome event! Throwing up those Cs for courage carried Lauren into the 5k final and helped Steph push through the last 8 laps of that darn 25 lap race known as the 10k. Our Picky eaters are a unique bunch of people who go beyond just consuming bars and have become a support system for the Picky Team. You guys inspire us to perfect our recipes and taste while we attempt to pursue our athletic endeavors and have one heck of a time doing so. Thanks Picky Eaters, you freaking rock!!!

Oiselle was freaking amazing during the trials. They printed these awesome Fleshman Flyer shirts for all the Lauren supporters.

A lot happened during the Trials. Records were broken, dreams were made, fun was had. Looking back on this very special moment in history, we reflect and appreciate the courage of these athletes to chase their dreams, and in turn, inspire us to chase our own.
We want to thank each of you again for a truly special Olympic Trials.

I came from Indiana to watch the Trials with my best friend, Rick Stucky, who lives in Silverton and turned me on to Picky Bars. We were they guys in the middle of the back stretch rocking Picky Bar t-shirts and wrist bands who yelled at Lauren before the qualifying round and the finals. We talked to Jesse Sunday evening as we left Hayward.
What an exciting race to watch Lauren put it out there with courage, commitment, and celebration (how’s that for 3 c’s?). I had to give up running due to arthritis in my knee (injured playing basketball 20 years ago like a good Indiana farmboy). It was great to see you stay committed to the dream and run with such passion and focus. Thanks for the inspiration and the memories…and the freaking great bars.

I saw Roscoe Divine in Knoxville at the NCAA meet in 1970 finish 50 yards or more behind the pack, but he didn’t quit. I met him about 15 years ago, and he told me that he was injured then. I had no idea why a 3.56 miler looked so pathetic until I knew the truth. I’ve been there too and know how it feels. It feels better to finish with dignity than to quit with shame.

Oh BTW, I looked for the PB tent and missed it. I was hoping to get a T-shirt and spread the word. However, I had limited mobility with my ankle which has been a pain in the ass. Nine months after surgery and its giving me the fits. Someday I would love to run on the Go with you.
